about the movie

The movie: The third movie in the popular Barbie Fairytale series, Barbie Of Swan Lake was released to DVD in September 2003. It is a Barbie movie based entirely on the Swan Lake story. Featuring stunning visuals, beautiful music, endearing characters, outstanding voice acting, and a moving plot, Barbie of Swan Lake is one of the best...and that's saying something considering how good the others (especially The Nutcracker) are.

Barbie plays Odette in this installment of Barbie's animated adventures. Odette is a simple village girl who enjoys helping her father at his bakery but doesn't have much courage for doing anything else. But all that changes when she sees a unicorn running through the village and the townsfolk trying to catch it. Odette takes pity on the beast, follows her into an enchanted forest and soon finds out that she is the only person who can save the magical kingdom from disaster.
Odette does not want this job, all she wants to do is go home and be normal and safe. She encounters the tormentor of the enchanted forest, Rothbart, who changes her into a swan so she can't have the power to save the kingdom against him. The fairy queen helps Odette by giving her the power to turn into a girl at night, but she has to turn back into a swan in the day time.
Prince Daniel sees her as a swan and almost shoots her down, with some persuasion from Rothbart, but once he sees the swan turn into a beautiful girl he instantly falls in love and vows to help her save the forest. With the aid of Prince Daniel, The Fairy Queen and the magical creatures in the forest she finds the courage and strength to overcome Rothbart and save the magical kingdom.

I was not disappointed. From the moment it began, Swan Lake had me in awe. The animation was, in my opinion, the best of the series. Kelly Sheridan is at her prime as a voice actress (Kelly? Rebellious teenager? So unexpected but so perfect!). The ballet from Swan Lake, actually MADE SENSE and had a POINT to the story! At the end, I was filled with the warm fuzzies of satisfaction--that was a great movie. And, as my sister and I like to say about just about everything we like, "It deserves a fanlisting!" So, I present this humble site to you, to spread the Swan Lake love.

about a fanlisting
"A fanlisting is simply an online list of fans of a subject that is created by an individual and open for fans from around the world to join. Fanlistings are similar to any other group or club you might join. You can join a fanlisting to 'show your love of something.' Most fanlistings have small codes, buttons, or plaques available which you can display on your own website if you'd like. There are no costs, and the only requirements to join a fanlisting are your name and country. They are dedicated to uniting the fans of a particular subject." (TFLN)
